Hi Everyone. We are here for another edition of Monday Mingle Business Edition hosted by The Party Plan Coach, Lynsey Jones. This is a MEME or a blog hop designed for the participants to discuss different aspects of her (or his) business. Each week Lynsey chooses a topic for us to discuss. And today is no different. This week’s topic:
One of the most common things I hear is “But what do you DO all day!?” Tell us about your typical day – walk us through from the time you wake up until your head hits the pillow at night
As you know, I am a direct seller. In fact, I am a Consutant with Mary Kay Cosmetics. I no logetr work an 8am – 4pm hospital job. I no longer take the Long Island Rail Road and a Subway Train to get to work. In fact, when I leave my bedroom in the morning and go to my kitchen, I am at work.
My days are not typical. In fact, they are very atypical, but the best part is, I make my days what they are. And I enjoy the ease and freedon in whidh I can change my schedule to what I want to make it everyday. I will take Tuesday as my “typical” day.
My Day on Tuesdays
I sleep until 7:30/8:00 I do the usual things, brush my teeth, shower, get dressed. I walk into the kitchen and I have my coffee and breakfast. I linger over my coffee while I feed the dogs and cat. Let the dogs out and contimue to enjoy my coffee. Somewhere around 9:00 am I turn on my computer. I refernce what assignments The FlyLady has in store. And I do the assignment and cClean the kitchen and by 10:00am. I am working. I am reading and answering my emails. Preparing or refining a blog post or I will make calls. Since The Mind Aware has started, at 12:00 I settle down for an hour of Direct Sales Training . After that I will have lunch and I will read something in a business book for an hour. At 2:30 I go volunteer at the local elementary school to help children in a program which helps them deal with loss, whether they have lost immediate family to death, divorce or incarciration. I find this very rewarding because I am humbled by what comes out ot the mouths of babes. By 4:00 I am home and preparing dinner. Usually we eat at 6:30 and we tend to watch local television. At 8:00, I use the next hour for telephone time to contact and follow-up with clients and potential clients who work during the day. I also spend this office time to pack orders, prepare invoices and input transactions into my system. By 9:30 I am finished, and I take this time to read for pleasure. I am in bed by 11:30 and I usually reflect on my day before I go to sleep.
Mondays I run errands, Wednesdays I bake, Thursdays are education days, Fridays I prepare for my businees appointments and parties that I have on Friday evenings and Saturdays. Saturdays I do parties in the evenings. And Sundays I go to church or listen to Joel Osteen and sometimes both and I relax. I am currently learning how to input The Diva Success System ( a business system created by Lynsey Jones to help Women who are in Party Plan Companies to do the behind the scenes activities in the course of a month, that help their busineeses run smoothly) into my life so that my business activities will be “automated” (I am not quite sure if that is the correct word.)
The wonderful thing about being a Mary Kay Consultant, is that I can adjust my schedule to fit around my family’s life. Case and Point – when my mother was sick and in the hospital for the last time, I was able to spend that precious time with her and during the weeks of the funeral and directly after, I was able to be present at an important family time. I was able to move my appointments to a later date. Now, I ask you, can you do that with your job?

Direct sales is really the best work around! I love that the flexibility gives us the freedom to truly live our lives and love our families with no regrets!
Jan, I agree with you… I think that most people don’t understand the flexibility or they think it’s too good to be true.
Thank your for stopping by. I really appreciate it!
I use Flylady’s principals a lot! I don’t do the daily assignments, but use her ideas and sayings every day. I love to listen to her podcast as I’m working around the house. My timer is my best friend! I like to divide my chores up by days as you do, and I agree that working from home with a flexible schedule is awesome!
HI Jendi… you are so righit about the timer. I usually set my clock radio to go off when I am suipposed to “finish”. Good music makes it easier to “whislle (or in my case, sing) while I work”.
Thanks so much for coming by and leaving a comment. I really appreciate it!
